Welcome to Denver, Colorado! With its iconic Dr. Evil style buildings, home to four major sports teams, museums and circus-like tents representing the Rocky Mountains, Denver has no shortage of beauty and entertainment. Perhaps even more exciting, Colorado was the first state to legalize recreational cannabis use (alongside Washington state) in 2012.
So a cannabis lover has landed in Denver for the weekend, now what?
Denver offers a variety of shops allowing any cannabis consumer to come in and pick out their flavor. In most cases, 2 pieces of government ID or a passport are required to purchase your flavor. The towns surrounding Denver also offer a variety of dispensary experiences.
A short drive will get you to Boulder, a city just as quant as our beloved Banff, that can also help with your cannabis needs. As a caution, the hours of operation in the dispensaries located in Devers’ surrounding towns can sometimes be short.
For the most part, stores open at 9 am so we suggest you obtain your goodies early so you can spend the day exploring, hiking, or hitting the slopes, depending on the season. Closing hours differ, with some stores closing their doors as early as 6:30pm and many closing near 10pm. If you’re strapped for time, we would suggest heading to Smokin Gun Apothecary. They will serve you right up until 12am with a large variety of cannabis products carrying some of the highest quality ratings.
Ready for more? Denver holds 420-friendly bed-and-breakfasts, which offer spa services, designated smoking areas, and a non-traditional wake-and-bake breakfast. Once you’ve taken it all in and you’re ready to head home, you may want to visit Blucifer, the 32-foot Blue Mustang at the Denver International Airport. If your eyes are redder than his, you might want to hold off on eating any more edibles before boarding your plane home.
